Amanda Mack, OTD, OTR/L, CLC

Dr. Amanda “Mandy” Mack is an assistant professor of occupational therapy and medicine and Director of Post-Professional Education in the Program in Occupational Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She currently directs the online post-professional doctorate of occupational therapy program. She also teaches courses related to occupational therapy theory and mentors both entry-level and post-professional doctoral students.

Dr. Mack’s research and practice interests lie primarily within the field of maternal health, focusing largely on the role of occupational therapy in improving breastfeeding experiences and participation for new parents, supporting perinatal mental health, and increasing the well-being of parents and babies through participation in meaningful activities. She regularly collaborates with interprofessional teams both inside and outside healthcare systems to ensure improved maternal outcomes for a variety of populations. Additionally, Dr. Mack conducts research on improving the health and participation of caregivers, including caregivers for people who have had a stroke. She also has an interest in improving clinical education for occupational therapists through innovative methods, including simulation and interprofessional experiences. Her research has been published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy, the Journal of Occupational Therapy Education, Supportive Care in Cancer, and others. She regularly presents her work at the state and national levels.

Dr. Mack received her B.S., M.S., and OTD degrees from Boston University. Mandy and her husband Conor have four children (Avery, Finley, Logan, and Callan). They attend The Journey – West County.
